A 1-2-1 with Nozzy Nyathi

Welcome to this month’s blog of 1-2-1 sessions with our members. This is an opportunity to expand on a member’s profile and give some personal insight into what they do and why.

This month is Nozzy Nyathi of Deep Cleen – a cleaning company based in Southend-on-Sea.

Nozzy set up Deep Cleen in 2010 after around five years working for big cleaning companies. She learnt the ropes with these companies but always felt there was a disconnect between those doing the cleaning and the client. One reason for her setting up by herself was to provide a more personal touch.

Now, eleven years later, she employs around ten people (a mix of full time, part time, temporary and permanent) and is busy running the business – but still keeps her hand in with the cleaning side.

“I do this to stay in touch with the clients,” she says. “I don’t want to be just a voice on the end of the phone or email. I will come along and clean, particularly when it is a new job, so the clients see me regularly. I get a feel for the jobs and what’s required.”

It’s this approach that Nozzy feels sets Deep Cleen apart from other cleaners. She engages more with the clients and deals personally with any issues, rather than communicating via the cleaning staff.

“We customise our services to your needs and we must be doing something right,” she adds. “I started just working in Southend; now the team covers all of Essex and beyond. It depends on the job – some big one-off house clearance jobs make it worthwhile to travel that extra distance – it’s amazing how far my reputation has travelled!”

Deep Cleen offer a range of services – basic regular cleaning visits, one-off deep cleans (such as on moving day or after a house clearance), carpet cleaning and even ironing!

“Our cleaners are trustworthy, fully trained, DBS checked and fully insured,” says Nozzy. “Our clients trust them enough that parcels will be arranged for delivery when they know we’ll be there.”

Deep Cleen’s clients range from individuals wanting domestic cleaning to companies wanting offices cleaned. They work at domestic sites during the day and then offices of an evening. They’ve even cleaned building sites before the builders handed over to the owners. They’re happy cleaning anywhere, any time.

“We’re flexible – my cleaners want flexible hours and so we can come and clean when you need us to. We usually start at 8am but can come earlier or work late. The premises don’t matter – if it’s dirty we clean it. We’ve worked overnight if it’s been needed. A “typical day” does not exist!” says Nozzy.

The team take great pride in their work. Many a time they have arrived to find the place in a state. Sometimes, gangs of cleaners will descend on a property to blitz clean it.

“One job took us three days, working 9 to 5,” adds Nozzy. “It was someone that had died following a long illness. Cleaning and general upkeep had just got away from them, understandably. The family called us in as part of the house clearance. We left it sparkling and as good as new!”

It was suggested to Nozzy that cleaning is one of those activities that many feel you should do yourself. It doesn’t take long and some may even feel get a cleaner in is just idleness on one’s part. Nozzy counters, “Sometimes it is a specialist clean, such as deep cleaning a carpet or removing certain stains, something which people may not feel confident doing themselves or don’t have the skills or materials. But a lot of my clients talk about the need to free up time. Monday to Friday is taken up with work and many no longer wish to spend a good part of their weekend cleaning. They want quality time with their family and the chance to relax. We provide that – so it’s more than just cleaning services – it’s allowing the client to do something else more rewarding for them. This is extra satisfaction for us – we’ve cleaned your home but added value by freeing up your time.”

“We offer a broad range of services for a broad range of clients. I have yet to have an enquiry that we couldn’t accommodate,” says Nozzy.

If you want an enthusiastic cleaning service, full of character and care, then Nozzy would love to hear from you!
